Iconic Music

Well, things change rather quickly, don’t they? So, my brain is running a thousand miles an hour. And you know what always made me feel better? Music. Well, my friends too. But when I’m on my own, music is so very healing, and since writing is healing too, guess I get to do both! Lucky you!

First, I will say the love I have for my friends is beyond measure. I have never met a more steadfast person than in my friends. The loyalty that they have to me, and the respect that they give me, is unmatched.

They listen to me when I’m in the depths of my despair, repeating the same things over and over, talking about the same topics, the same people, the same situations until they could recite it as well as I can. But they’re also with me during my greatest moments, too, and my best friends always applaud me. One thing that I give them kudos for is being there for me when I crash out. It’s called bipolar rage, really, and boy, do I crash out. They take all my emotions in stride, validate those that deserve to be validated, and rein me in when I go too far. They also drag me up by my shirt when I can’t leave the ground. What more can you ask for in friends?

Anyway. Now that my little speech about true friendship is over, let’s go into some music.

So let’s start slow, shall we? Come on, this is a classic. I know Fletcher is super controversial now, but I admit that I do indulge in her music from time to time.

Okay, Zolita. We absolutely love a lesbian singer, don’t we? And one that won’t switch sides (I’m looking at you, Fletcher). I got into Zolita a while ago, when I was looking for some lesbian artists who write songs about women. I can’t keep listening to straight stuff. And I was gifted with Zolita. This song was one of my first introductions to her, and I gotta say I’m in love with it.

I’m often accused of finding my music on TikTok, and well, I’m guilty of it. Listen, not all of my music is from TikTok. I can’t help it if I find something that I like. Of course I’m going to listen to it. And when it is from a small artist like Hannah Grae I’ll be happy to support women by listening to her songs. This one is fun, I found it three years ago and I only heard the bridge, and honestly, I always go back to the bridge. It truly is my favorite part.

You know I have to go with one of my favorites here. And also because I’ve been binging all the Deadpool movies. So, here we go. This song I used to literally listen to over and over again without any other song in between, I was so obsessed with it. It still tickles my brain, so it of course deserves to go in here. It’s also genuinely from one of my favorite scenes of the movie.

Say what you will about Gracie Abrams, but this song is great. I’ve always liked it, but I sang it a lot today. I don’t have a whole lot more to say beyond that about this song.

Milica Todorovic, you are my savior. Thank you for putting out such an amazing song. Honestly? This song is screaming to me right now. The amount of times I’ve replayed it just today is probably insane. While I will say the lyrics are relatable, I think it’s more of the feeling that the song brings that I relate most to. They really don’t look anything like me, thank goodness. Also, let’s face it, nikad neće biti kao ja.

I’ll think I’ll leave you, dearest reader, with a final song. Perhaps I’ll make another post about other absolute masterpieces. But for now, the road ends here. This song speaks to me. Again, another song I religiously played today. The pre-chorus is great, her voice is beautiful, and her message is wonderful. Izvoli, evo ga. Sikter, sikter.
